Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Wednesday Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was repeatedly inviting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold negotiations and expressed hope that the process could lead to positive and result-oriented talks.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Asif said the prime minister continues to extend invitations for dialogue to PTI. Meanwhile, Asif added that there is no room for negotiations in the political DNA of the PTI leadership. Asif said PTI founder Imran Khan has focused throughout his life, from start to finish, on personal interest alone.

He said negotiations are based on give and take, adding that Imran Khan is not a principled person but, in his view, “200 per cent” driven by self-interest. Asif went on to say that Imran Khan thinks only of his personal benefit from beginning to end. "For personal gain, Imran Khan can trample on principles and human relationships alike.'

Separately, the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) has welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), urging the release of imprisoned senior PTI leaders to create a positive environment for meaningful dialogue.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the NDC—comprising Fawad Chaudhry, Imran Ismail, and Mahmood Maulvi—appreciated the government’s renewed offer of dialogue with the opposition.
The committee emphasized that successful and sustainable negotiations require confidence-building measures.
