The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has again made the installation of two meters compulsory for major commercial and industrial consumers.
According to Lesco, the restriction on the installation of backup meters aimed to protect data in the control room. The policy changed after irregularities in the recorded data came to light. Under the revised policy, non-AMI smart meters may now be installed as backup meters on consumers’ connections.
The Lesco said that non-AMI smart meters may be supplied by any company.
It is pertinent to note that the Lesco earlier ordered the installation of LT smart meters on consumers’ connections in June.
