Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday to discuss the country’s internal and external security environment.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir briefed the president on the overall security situation, particularly the recent escalation along the Afghan border stemming from the aggressive and provocative actions of the Afghan Taliban regime.
He also apprised the president of the timely and effective response of the Pakistan Army, which successfully repelled cross-border aggression and safeguarded national frontiers.
President commends armed forces’ professionalism, bravery
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed full confidence in the strength, courage, and readiness of the Pakistan armed forces. He praised their professionalism, vigilance, and rapid response in defending the nation’s sovereignty against external threats.
The president particularly lauded the armed forces’ swift counteraction to cross-border attacks, commending their valour, capacity, and commitment to Pakistan’s defense.

“Pakistan will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs,” President Zardari reaffirmed.

The meeting also reviewed the country’s internal and security challenges, with Field Marshal Asim Munir providing a detailed overview of ongoing operations to maintain stability and border security.
The president appreciated the dedication of the Pakistan Army and other security institutions in ensuring the safety and stability of the nation, especially amid rising regional tensions.

Both leaders reiterated that Pakistan remains fully capable of responding to any form of external aggression and that the nation’s armed forces stand as a bulwark of peace, unity, and strength.
