The London High Court has ruled against YouTuber and former military officer Major (retd) Adil Raja in a high-profile defamation case filed by Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer, ordering him to pay a total of £350,000 in damages.
The verdict declared Raja’s allegations “false and baseless,” emphasizing that his claims caused serious harm to Rashid Naseer’s reputation through multiple social media posts and YouTube publications.
According to court documents, the case was heard at the Royal Court of Justice, where Judge Richard Spearman found no evidence to support the allegations made by Raja in nine publications during 2022.
The judge ruled that Adil Raja’s statements were “malicious,” noting they had a damaging effect on the personal and professional standing of Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer.
The British court rejected all of Raja’s defense applications, affirming that his posts were defamatory and that the evidence presented failed to justify any of the claims made.
Breakdown of damages and court order
The court ordered Adil Raja to pay £50,000 (approximately Rs. 20 million) directly in damages, while total payments, including legal costs and additional penalties, amount to around £350,000 (Rs. 130 million).
In addition, the court instructed Raja to publicly announce Rashid Naseer’s legal victory across all his social media platforms.
Background of the case
Brigadier (retd) Rashid Naseer had approached the London High Court after Adil Raja made serious allegations against him in several YouTube videos and social media posts in 2022.
The allegations were linked to sensitive issues, including claims related to the Arshad Sharif murder case, which the court also rejected as baseless.
Judge Spearman’s verdict confirmed that the defamatory publications damaged Naseer’s reputation, stating, “No credible evidence has been produced to support Mr. Raja’s allegations.”
