A suicide blast ripped through a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday, killing six people and injuring at least 10 others. The deadly incident has prompted heightened security and widespread condemnation as investigations intensify.
Police said the explosion occurred at the residence of Noor Hassan Mehsud, president of the Contractors Union in South Waziristan, where a wedding ceremony was underway. Authorities confirmed that the blast was a suicide attack.
Security forces quickly cordoned off the area, while police collected evidence from the scene and expanded the scope of the investigation.
Casualties, injured identified
According to police, six people were killed in the attack, including Advocate Abdul Majeed Lagri Mehsud. The other deceased were identified as Waheed Jagri, Rehmanullah, Shahzad Abdulai, Inayatullah, and Chhota Waheed.
At least 10 people sustained injuries. The injured include Waris Khan, Noor Alam Mehsud, Tauheedullah, Rehman Khan, Sohail Khan Burki, and Nadeemullah.
Rescue teams immediately shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan. Officials said some of the wounded were later moved to other hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Police stated that statements of the injured are being recorded as part of the investigation.
District bar announces mourning
The District Bar Association expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of Advocate Abdul Majeed Lagri Mehsud. A complete mourning was announced, and court proceedings were suspended for the day as a mark of respect.
Naqvi condemns attack
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the suicide attack, calling it a brutal act against innocent civilians. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
“These beasts who target innocent people do not deserve any concessions,” Naqvi said, adding that such cowardly acts cannot weaken the nation’s resolve against terrorism.
Following the attack, security was tightened across Dera Ismail Khan. Police said evidence has been collected and the investigation is being expanded to identify those behind the deadly assault.
