Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir visited the National Police Academy in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he interacted with officers of the Police Service of Pakistan.
Upon arrival, the field marshal was warmly received by the commandant of the National Police Academy and was presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out police contingent.
He laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered prayers, paying solemn tribute to police martyrs.
Sacrifices in war on terror
Field Marshal Asim Munir acknowledged the supreme sacrifices of police personnel in the fight against terrorism, crime, and internal security challenges. He praised the courage and resilience of police officers who continue to serve on the frontlines despite persistent threats.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development (SHIELD), along with ongoing training programs focused on capacity building and modernization. He was informed about initiatives aimed at enhancing professional skills and preparing the police to meet evolving security challenges.
Interaction with cadet ASPs
Interacting with Cadet assistant superintendents of police (ASPs), the field marshal highlighted the pivotal role of police as the first line of defence in protecting the lives, property, and honour of citizens. He stressed that effective policing is essential for public confidence and national stability.
While addressing inspectors general of police (IGPs), additional IGPs, and senior police officers, Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation, modern policing practices, and building public trust.
He said a strong, professional, and people-friendly police force is indispensable for ensuring internal security and upholding the rule of law.
Law enforcement termed sacred trust
The field marshal described law enforcement as a sacred trust, stating that discipline, integrity, and public service must remain at the core of policing. He assured officers that the armed forces will always stand by Pakistan’s brave police personnel, reaffirming unwavering institutional support.
The federal minister for interior and the minister of state for interior were also present during the visit.
Police leadership reiterates reform commitment
Senior police leadership reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening policing standards, improving professional capacity, and advancing institutional reforms.
They pledged to continue efforts aimed at modernizing the force to effectively respond to contemporary and future security challenges.
