The year 2025 is being described as the beginning of a new chapter in Pakistan-US relations, considered significant in the context of a changing global political landscape.
The Middle East Political and Economic Institute praised Pakistan’s diplomatic achievements, noting that warmth and mutual trust between Pakistan and the United States have increased.
According to the institute, Pakistan’s strategic importance grew significantly during the Trump administration, and cooperation in counter-terrorism laid a strong foundation for bilateral ties.
The report highlighted several key developments that strengthened the relationship, including the arrest of the ISIS-Khorasan leader, which enhanced bilateral cooperation.
During Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s visit to the US, President Donald Trump expressed confidence in him and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
President Trump also played a crucial role in the India-Pakistan ceasefire, which Pakistan appreciated, while India declined the US-mediated initiative. Pakistan even nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The institute noted that Pakistan supported President Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan. Bilateral trade between Pakistan and the US reached $13.28 billion, and the US invested $1.25 billion in projects in Pakistan, including the Reko Dik project. Defense cooperation, including the F-16 deal, contributed to the restoration of strategic trust between the two
