The government officers in grades 17 to 22 will have their assets in line with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) requirements.
According to details that surfaced on Wednesday, Pakistan has made progress in the ongoing economic review talks with the International Monetary Fund. The government has met another major condition set by the IMF.The Federal Board of Revenue has issued a draft amendment to the Civil Servants Rules concerning asset declarations.
The notification stated that the amended definition of 'public servant' will now include officers from grade 17 and above. The amendment will apply to employees of the federal and provincial governments, autonomous bodies, and public corporations. However, individuals exempted under the National Accountability Bureau Ordinance 1999 will not fall under this definition.
Meanwhile, the FBR has invited relevant stakeholders to submit their views and objections on the draft within seven days. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
The changes aimed to bring greater transparency and improve administrative procedures. The revised draft, prepared under Section 237 of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, seeks to enhance the effectiveness of the system for exchanging asset declarations.
