Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on Sunday called on the international community to “stop using double standards” and punish Israel for its “crimes” following airstrikes on Hamas leaders in Doha.
Speaking at a preparatory foreign ministers’ meeting ahead of an emergency Arab-Islamic summit, Sheikh Mohammed said the Israeli attack on Qatar was a blatant violation of sovereignty and international law.
“The time has come for the international community to stop using double standards and to punish Israel for all the crimes it has committed,” he said, warning that attempts to displace Palestinians through “a war of extermination” will not succeed.
Israeli airstrikes condemned across Arab
The strikes on September 9 targeted residences of Hamas officials in Doha, killing several people, including civilians, and injuring others.
The attacks sparked widespread condemnation across the Arab and Islamic world, with states denouncing Israel’s actions as aggressive and unlawful.
Saudi Arabia stands with Qatar
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan led the Kingdom’s delegation to the Doha summit. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounced the Israeli attack, describing it as an “aggressive act.” Riyadh also reaffirmed its solidarity with Qatar and urged the global community to hold Israel accountable.
The joint Arab-Islamic summit, organized under the leadership of Qatar, is expected to finalize a draft statement responding to Israel’s strike on Doha. Foreign ministers from Arab League and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states are in attendance.
