The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Core Committee has called for the immediate release of its founder, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi.

During an emergency meeting held in Islamabad, the committee emphasized that any attempts at political revenge would face widespread resistance from the public.

The committee hailed the recent acquittal of Khan and Bibi in the Iddat Nikkah case as a victory for justice. They expressed concern over the implications of the verdict and insisted that both individuals should be freed without delay.

If their release is not granted, the PTI plans to appeal directly to the public for support.

Furthermore, the committee stated that arrests related to the May 9 incidents or the Toshakhana case are unacceptable. It firmly stated that arrests in cases related to May 9 or the Toshakhana would not be tolerated, asserting PTI’s stance against what it perceives as unjust targeting.

Moreover, the committee clarified that Bushra Bibi had no involvement in the handling or sale of gifts from the Toshakhana, aiming to dispel any misconceptions regarding her role in the ongoing investigations.

In a bold assertion, the core committee warned that if Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were not released promptly, they would take their case directly to the court of public opinion, signaling their readiness to mobilize public support.

Later speaking to Samaa TV, Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Umer Ayub described the release of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and other detained leaders, including Bushra Bibi, as the major challenge currently facing the party.

He expressed that the PTI leaders and supporters are united in their support for Khan during this critical time.

Ayub criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), alleging that it has misinterpreted regulations, thus infringing on PTI’s rights.

He further called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and the four Provincial Election Commissioners, asserting that Article 6 should be invoked against those who violate legal and constitutional principles.

Emphasizing the solidarity within the party, the opposition leader stated, “We have come out with shrouds on our heads,” highlighting their commitment to the cause. He made it clear that regardless of the challenges, the founder of PTI will continue to stand with the party chairman.
