The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has postponed polling in seven constituencies of Poonch division that were scheduled to vote in the third phase of the 2026 general elections on August 10.
According to the Election Commission spokesperson, polling will now be held on August 10 in only four constituencies of Poonch division, while the election schedule for the remaining seven constituencies will be announced later.
The decision was taken in view of law and order concerns, requests received from political leaders and election candidates, and information provided by relevant institutions, the spokesperson said.
Polling to continue in four constituencies
The Election Commission clarified that polling will not take place on August 10 in the constituencies of Poonch and Pallandri districts.
However, voting will proceed as scheduled in three constituencies of Bagh district and one constituency of Haveli district on August 10.
The commission said a new polling date and revised election schedule for the postponed constituencies would be announced after reviewing the security situation and other relevant factors.
