Prince William has congratulated England after the Three Lions secured a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Prince of Wales, who serves as Patron of the Football Association, shared his reaction on X shortly after England's hard-fought quarter-final victory at Miami Stadium on Saturday.
"Well done England! Top performance in a tough environment. This is a special team," William wrote.
He also paid tribute to Norway, adding, "Commiserations to a proud Norway team."
Looking ahead to the next stage of the tournament, the future king joked: "Onto the semi-final… Never in doubt!"
William also reshared the England football team's celebratory post, which read: "Into the final four of the @FIFAWorldCup. GET IN THERE!"
England's victory marks the nation's fourth appearance in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, following previous runs in 1966, 1990, and 2018.
A lifelong football supporter, Prince William regularly attends England internationals and FA Cup finals and is also a well-known fan of Premier League club Aston Villa.
Former England captain David Beckham also celebrated the victory on Instagram, saying he was "so proud of the team" after watching the match with his family in Miami.
England will now aim to book a place in the World Cup final when they face their semi-final opponents later this week.
