The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has issued a new alcohol protocol for England players, according to media reports.
British media reported that ECB Managing Director Rob Key has signed the new protocol. The guidelines were explained to players following the recent Ben Stokes incident.
Under the new protocol, players will not be allowed to drink alcohol on the day after a match. The new policy also keeps the existing midnight curfew in place.
Players who remain outside the team hotel after 10pm must inform team management or security. British media also reported that players must not appear in public while under the influence of alcohol. They are also banned from posting any alcohol-related content or items on social media.
Players won't be allowed to consume alochol
The new policy also stated that players will not be allowed to consume alcohol in the public areas of the team hotel.
It is pertinent to note that the ECB has taken the new measures following an incident involving Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson at a bar. In November, Harry Brook was also reported to have been involved in a dispute after drinking alcohol.
