Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could arrive with a slightly heavier and thicker design, according to a new leak that suggests the changes will make room for a significantly larger battery.
Well-known tipster Ice Universe claims the iPhone 18 Pro Max will weigh 240 grams and measure 9mm thick, making it marginally heavier and thicker than the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, which weighs 233 grams and is 8.8mm thick.
The latest leak follows earlier reports that the iPhone 18 Pro series would feature a thicker design, although the newly leaked dimensions suggest the increase may not be as dramatic as previously expected.
The expected increase in size is believed to be linked to a larger battery capacity.
According to a recent certification listing, the eSIM-only version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to feature a 5,567mAh battery, while the model retaining a physical SIM card could include a 5,391mAh battery.
By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with a 5,088mAh battery in the eSIM variant and 4,823mAh in the physical SIM version.
A larger battery could translate into longer battery life, one of the most anticipated upgrades for Apple's next flagship smartphone.
The leak also highlights how Apple's premium flagship compares with upcoming competitors. Samsung's rumoured Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to weigh around 201 grams, making it considerably lighter despite being a foldable smartphone.
Apple has not officially confirmed any specifications for the iPhone 18 lineup. As with all pre-launch leaks, the reported dimensions and battery capacities should be treated as unofficial until the company unveils the device.
