Police have made further progress in the investigation into the Lahore Bhati Gate manhole incident, taking two more suspects into custody as authorities continue to widen the probe.
According to police sources, investigation officers have arrested two contractors, identified as Usman Yasin and Salman, in connection with the Bhati Gate incident in Lahore.
The suspects were taken into custody on Friday and will be formally investigated as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Investigation expands
Police sources said the newly arrested accused will be questioned to determine their role and possible involvement in the incident. Investigators are examining multiple aspects of the case to establish responsibility.
Officials added that further action will depend on the findings of the investigation.
Five suspects now in custody
With the arrest of Usman Yasin and Salman, the total number of people taken into custody in the Bhati Gate incident has risen to five. Police had earlier detained three other accused already named in the case.
Authorities say the investigation remains underway and further developments are expected as questioning continues.
Earlier in the day, the inquiry report of a high-powered committee formed to investigate the tragedy was completed, with three police officers declared guilty of negligence, police sources confirmed.
