Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and his wife, author Twinkle Khanna, had a narrow escape on Monday night after their convoy was caught in a freak road accident shortly after they returned to the city.
The incident occurred around 9pm near the Silver Beach café, a busy stretch in Juhu that was already crowded due to an event attended by Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar nearby.
According to witnesses, a speeding Mercedes rammed into an auto rickshaw, which was then pushed into a vehicle from Akshay Kumar’s security convoy. That vehicle subsequently crashed into the actor’s SUV.
Akshay and twinkle safe
Sources said Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna were travelling in a separate car ahead of the convoy and suffered only a minor impact.

Both were reported to be safe, with no injuries sustained in the accident.
Auto rickshaw badly crushed
What followed drew the attention of local residents and onlookers. Witnesses said the auto rickshaw involved in the accident appeared badly crushed, with the driver and a passenger briefly trapped inside.
According to eyewitness accounts, Akshay Kumar stepped out of his vehicle and helped his security team lift the auto to free those trapped. “It was scary to see the accident but thankfully everyone is safe,” one witness said.
Police confirm no serious injuries
Police sources confirmed that no one was seriously injured in the incident, including the auto driver and the passenger.
Traffic was briefly disrupted in the area before normal flow was restored.
The couple had just returned from a trip abroad, where they were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
The accident occurred shortly after they landed in Mumbai and were heading home from the airport.
