Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, and former party leaders Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry are likely to be indicted today in the case of contempt of the election commission and chief election commissioner.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued notices regarding indictment proceedings in the case. It has also issued a summons notice to the three suspects to appear in person.
The case pertains to allegations of contempt of the ECP and the chief election commissioner.
The proceedings indicate a significant legal development, with multiple party leaders facing allegations related to their conduct during interactions with the electoral watchdog.
Previously, the caretaker government had declined to present Imran Khan before the election commission, citing security threats to the incarcerated former prime minister.
