A powerful explosion near a police vehicle in the Paniala area near Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday left three police personnel, including ASI Gul Alam, martyred.
The incident has sparked strong condemnations from the federal government as security forces launched an immediate response.
According to police officials, the explosion occurred close to a patrolling vehicle, causing severe damage and resulting in the martyrdom of ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and Constable Sakhi Jan.
Law enforcement swiftly cordoned off the area, while a heavy contingent of police and rescue teams rushed to the site. Authorities have begun collecting evidence as part of an investigation into the attack, which they link to militant elements.
Naqvi, Afridi condemn attack
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned what he described as an attack by Fitna-ul-Khawarij on the police personnel of DI Khan. He expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred officers.
Naqvi said the bravery of the fallen officers reflects the unwavering resolve of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, adding that their sacrifices “will always be remembered.”
In his statement, the interior minister saluted the sacrifice of the “brave sons” of the KP Police, acknowledging their frontline role in combating terrorism. He emphasized that the nation stands united with the families of the martyrs and deeply appreciates their service.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also strongly condemned the explosion targeting a police mobile.
Expressing deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of the three police personnel, he said that ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and driver Sakhi Jan have made the nation proud by sacrificing their lives.
"Our police personnel are fighting terrorism on the frontline despite limited resources," the CM said. He termed the attack a cowardly act, adding that enemy elements cannot demoralize the nation with such actions.
He reaffirmed that the provincial government stands firmly with its brave police force and salutes their tremendous sacrifices. “The sacrifices of our martyrs will not go in vain. The terrorists involved will be brought to justice,” he added.
Sohail Afridi said the war against terrorism will continue with stronger resolve and full force. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred officers and offered special prayers for the elevation of their ranks.

The chief minister assured the families that the provincial government shares their grief and will provide all possible assistance.
Just a day ago, two police officers were martyred in separate terrorist attacks in Lakki Marwat and Bannu. One officer was martyred and three others injured in an explosion targeting a police mobile in Lakki Marwat, while another officer was martyred by unidentified attackers in Bannu.
Police said search operations were underway to track down the assailants.
