A deadly attack on the convoy of North Waziristan Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali Khan on Tuesday left four people martyred, including the senior government official, and three others injured on the Bannu–Miranshah Road, police confirmed.
The incident occurred in the Masoomabad Mamandkhel area, where the AC’s vehicle was targeted in what officials described as a horrific and deliberate assault.
According to initial reports, Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali Khan was traveling with his security squad on the Bannu–Miranshah Road when attackers struck near Masoomabad Mamandkhel.
He was martyred on the spot. Two of his accompanying security policemen and a passerby were also martyred in the attack, bringing the total number of casualties to four.
Three people sustained injuries, including two members of Shah Wali Khan’s security staff and the convoy’s driver. All injured individuals were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu for urgent medical treatment.
Heavy police deployment, search operation
Soon after the attack, a heavy contingent of police reached the area, cordoned off the entire stretch, and launched a search operation to trace the suspects.
Police officials said investigators have begun collecting evidence, and efforts are underway to track down the attackers responsible for the ambush.
