Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Monday reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen their historic defence and strategic partnership, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Chief of General Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed General Al-Ruwaily and conveyed his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia in economic, defence and security sectors, describing the bilateral relationship as rooted in “shared beliefs, common values and mutual trust.”
The premier also appreciated the Kingdom’s consistent support for Pakistan, calling it unwavering and timely, especially during critical national challenges.
Recent high-level engagements
During the meeting, the prime minister recalled his recent visits to Riyadh over the past two months. These engagements resulted in the signing of a historic strategic bilateral defence agreement, marking a major milestone in Pakistan–Saudi ties.
He assured that Pakistan remains committed to expanding defence collaboration, including joint training programmes, military exercises and the exchange of expertise.

The Prime Minister highlighted the mutual determination of both countries to counter all forms of terrorism and extremism. He noted that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a common vision for peace and stability in the region.
Saudi leadership’s message for Pakistan
General Al-Ruwaily conveyed warm congratulations from the Saudi leadership to PM Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani people. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s strong desire to elevate the existing defence and strategic partnership “to new heights.”
Earlier today, the Saudi military chief aalso met Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters, where both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to enhance military cooperation.
The high-level meeting was attended by, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, Senior officials from both sides
