The Asma Jahangir group has taken the lead in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections, according to unofficial results released on Thursday.
Preliminary counts indicated that the group secured victories in Quetta, Sukkur, Bannu and Swat. In Quetta, Haroon-ul-Rashid of the Asma Jahangir group received 120 votes, while Tauseef Asif of the Hamid Khan group followed with 101 votes.
In Sukkur, Haroon Rasheed secured 55 votes compared to 15 for Tauseef Asif. In Bannu, the vote count stood at 25 to 5 in favour of Haroon Rasheed.
From Swat, Haroon Rasheed gained 27 votes, while Tauseef Asif received 23.
Polling continued until 5 pm across 13 stations set up nationwide for the SCBA elections. A total of 4,393 lawyers are registered to cast their votes. In Islamabad, 710 votes were polled.
