In a case that has shaken the nation, 17-year-old TikToker and content creator Sana Yousaf was tragically murdered on June 2, 2025, in a disturbing act of violence after she rejected the persistent advances of a man named Umer Hayat.
Sana, known for her cheerful social media presence and regular content, was reportedly harassed by Umer Hayat, who initially reached out to her online. Despite repeated rejections, he continued to pursue her, and ultimately, his obsession turned into fatal violence.
The police were able to trace and arrest Umer Hayat in Faisalabad using CCTV footage. Recently, he was presented before a local court and sent on a 14-day judicial remand for further investigation and identification procedures.
However, what’s drawing public fury and media scrutiny is the fact that the accused was brought to court with his face completely masked, even though he has already admitted to the crime.
People are questioning why a confessed murderer’s face is being hidden, while victims like Sana are dragged online, their identities and pictures widely circulated. Social media users and activists alike are raising concerns about transparency, fairness, and accountability in how justice is served.

Veteran actor and activist Mishi Khan also voiced her anger, stating, “Why is the police hiding his face? It should be shown all over the country. Why are culprits hidden with a black cloth whenever they are caught in any case?”
This sentiment is echoed across social media:
- “This makes it doubtful even if they have caught the real murderer.”
- “This is how high-profile criminals are hidden and later released.”
- “Show his face so he and his family know what he did can’t be hidden.”
