Renowned playwright, satirist, and cultural icon Anwar Maqsood has once again drawn attention to the lack of infrastructure for the performing arts in Karachi.
Speaking at a recent event, Maqsood said, “There is no shortage of talent in this city. Karachi is brimming with gifted individuals who just need the right platforms to shine.”
He emphasized that while Karachi has produced countless stars in literature, theatre, and television, the city severely lacks proper spaces for live performances. “I have requested the Sindh government to build theatres in every neighbourhood,” he shared. According to him, accessible theatres across the city would nurture local talent and revive the fading theatre culture of Pakistan’s largest metropolis.
Anwar Maqsood also raised an alarming concern about digital impersonation, revealing that 16 fake accounts have been created under his name on various social media platforms. “People are being misled. These accounts are not run by me or anyone I know,” he warned, urging the public to stay cautious and verify the authenticity of online profiles before trusting or sharing content.
