In a development surrounding the ongoing “Iddat Nikah” case involving former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, a petition seeking to dismiss her indictment in absentia was rejected on Thursday.
Judge Qudratullah of the District and Sessions Court Islamabad, who is presiding over the case at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, heard the arguments. The petition to dismiss the charges against Bushra Bibi was denied.
The case revolves around allegations that Khan married Bushra Bibi during her Iddat period, a mandatory waiting period following the dissolution of a previous marriage. This is considered unlawful under certain interpretations of Islamic law.
During the hearing, the court also approved the founder of PTI Imran Khan’s request to speak with sons. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday.
