The incident of firing erupted on Sunday near the convoy of JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the CPEC Toll Plaza in DI Khan.
The JUI-F provincial secretary said, “Maulana Fazl Rehman is in house. We do not have an idea who opened the fire and why. The vehicle of Maulana Fazl Rehman’s cavalcade was passing at the time of the firing.”
DI Khan RPO stated: “The JUI-F’s cavalcade was not attacked. But the police checkpost had been targeted at the Yarik interchange.”
He made it clear that JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman was not present during the incident.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif condemned the gunfire incident that took place near the JUI-F convoy.
Expressing sincere well-wishes for Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his positive sentiments.
"Those harbouring ill intentions towards the country aim to spread terror by targeting public leaders with non-local weapons. The entire nation, in collaboration with the security forces, will eliminate Pakistan's adversaries with unwavering determination," said Shehbaz Sharif.
“The nation will thwart all conspiracies against the country with the strength of its unity and the power of its security forces," he added.
JUI-F stalwart Abdul Ghafoor Haideri had also condemned the gunfire incident near the cavalcade.
