The regional offices of the election commission are conducting scrutiny of the nomination papers for general as well as women's reserved seats in the National Assembly.
The scrutiny of candidates is underway at the DRO office of Karachi’s District Central. The documents of Syed Abbas Hasnain of the PTI have been approved from NA-247.
The scrutiny of nomination papers for reserved seats in Sindh is also underway, as the documents of PPP’s Shazia Marri on a women's seat in the National Assembly were declared valid.
The nomination papers of Sadia Javed, Tanzeela Qambrani, Shazia Sanghar on reserved seats for women in the Sindh Assembly were also declared valid. Similarly, the papers of Rubina Qaimkhani and Kulsoom Chandio were also approved.
The nomination papers of MQM's Afshan Qambar on a reserved seat in Sindh were also deemed valid, as were those of the PPP’s Sahar Kamran for women’s seat in the National Assembly.
In Lahore also, the scrutiny of nomination papers for general seats is going on and will continue till December 30.
The scrutiny of nomination papers of independent candidate Asghar Ali from NA-121 was completed as was for PTI's Wasim Qadir from NA-121, PTI leader Muhammad Khan Madani from NA-118 and PPP leader Zulfiqar Badr's from PP-162.
Meanwhile, the scrutiny of nomination papers for women's reserved seats for the general elections will start tomorrow. The nomination papers of PML-N and PPP candidates will be scrutinised on December 26. The next day will be the turn of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan on December 27, while on December 28, the papers of the women candidates of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party and other parties will be scrutinised.
In Multan, the scrutiny of nomination papers for six National Assembly and 12 provincial constituencies will be held, as various candidates have been called by ROs. The details of seconders and proposers are also being verified.
Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Ahmed Hussain Dehar have been summoned on December 30 for scrutiny, while Qureshi’s daughter Mehrabano and son Zain as well as veteran politician Javed Hashmi have also been summoned on December 30.
