Former chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has taken his appeal to the Supreme Court after facing rejection from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to stop the Toshakhana trial case.
The PTI founder had initially filed a petition requesting the suspension of the decision related to Toshakhana to enable participation in upcoming elections.
It is pertinent to note that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed the plea, prompting the former Chairman of PTI to move the apex court.
Imran Khan’s lawyer Intizar Panjotha said an unexpected incident occurred as the clerk's mobile phone and the appeal documents inside the Supreme Court were reportedly taken away, raising eyebrows.
He said owing to the gravity of the case, the matter involves a high-profile political figure and expressed ‘surprise’ at such an incident happening within the realm of the Supreme Court.
The decision to suspend the Toshakhana case could potentially render the former prime minister eligible for participation in upcoming elections.
