Punjab government Friday has reinstated the authority for Deputy Commissioners to impose Section 144 in the districts, aiming to uphold peace.
The latest move granted deputy commissioners the power to enforce Section 144 for two months or 60 days, as outlined in the newly issued ordinance.
The decision came after the expiration of the previous ordinance that had empowered Deputy Commissioners under Section 144.
