Clerics associated with various madrassas and universities have expressed grief over the Dera Ismail Khan terrorist attack in which at least 23 army personnel were martyred.
In a video message, Maulana Dr Atta Rahman said 23 soldiers of Pakistan Army sacrificed their lives for the country in the terror attack. Such acts of terrorism had nothing to do with religion, he maintained.
Maulana Muhammad Shoaib said he strongly condemned the act of terrorism, adding that terrorists could not shake the resolve of the Pakistani nation.
He further appealed to the people not to become tools at the hands of such terrorist elements. "People are appealed to strengthen their military institutions," he said.
Dr Abdul Rahman said: "Our young men sacrificed their lives for the defence of the dear motherland and the exaltation of Islam."
He further said the entire nation stood with the military leadership. "We were one and shall be one.”
Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi said clerics across Pakistan stood with their army, adding that terrorists would have to face defeat.
"An attack on Pakistan Army is an attack on Pakistan and the Muslim world," Maulana Qureshi said.
