Lenovo appears to be preparing a new budget laptop aimed at competing with Apple’s affordable MacBook Neo, with leaked images suggesting the upcoming IdeaPad Vibe will combine a colorful design with a wide selection of ports and processor options.
According to Windows Latest, images of the unannounced Lenovo laptop show the IdeaPad Vibe in several bright finishes, while the company is reportedly preparing versions powered by both Qualcomm Snapdragon and AMD processors.
The laptop could give Windows users an alternative to Apple’s increasingly competitive entry-level MacBook lineup.
Lenovo brings colorful designs to budget laptops
Leaked images reportedly show the IdeaPad Vibe in seven colors, including pink, yellow, orange-brown, green, navy blue, silver and mint teal.
Each version appears to feature a matching Lenovo logo on the lid, while the keyboard area remains dark gray.
The colorful approach appears designed to appeal to consumers looking for more distinctive budget laptops, similar to Apple's strategy with the MacBook Neo.
More ports than Apple’s MacBook Neo
One of the biggest differences could be connectivity.
The leaked IdeaPad Vibe appears to include:
- Two USB-A ports
- Two USB-C ports
- HDMI
- Headphone jack
- MicroSD card slot
By comparison, the MacBook Neo offers two USB-C ports alongside a headphone jack.
The additional ports could make Lenovo’s laptop particularly attractive to students, office workers and users who regularly connect external displays, storage devices and other peripherals.
Snapdragon and AMD versions reportedly planned
Lenovo has not officially revealed the specifications of the IdeaPad Vibe, but reports indicate that the company is considering both Snapdragon and AMD-powered versions.
Qualcomm has recently expanded its Snapdragon lineup for affordable Windows PCs, while AMD and Intel are also competing for the growing low-cost laptop market.
The processor choice could allow Lenovo to offer different configurations aimed at balancing price, battery life and performance.
MacBook Neo is changing the budget laptop market
The reported IdeaPad Vibe comes as Windows PC makers face increasing pressure from Apple in the affordable laptop segment.
The MacBook Neo initially launched at $599, bringing Apple's laptop lineup to a significantly lower price point while retaining features associated with the company's premium devices.
Apple has since increased prices amid higher memory and component costs, but those same pressures are affecting Windows laptop manufacturers.
Budget Windows laptops have traditionally relied on entry-level hardware, with some models still shipping with 8GB of RAM. At the same time, Windows 11 has become more demanding as Microsoft adds AI-powered features and additional background processes.
Microsoft has indicated that reducing Windows' memory requirements is becoming a priority, while chipmakers are developing more affordable processors for entry-level PCs.
Lenovo’s Vibe could offer a different approach
The IdeaPad Vibe remains unannounced, and its price, release date, processor specifications, RAM, storage and display details have not yet been confirmed.
However, the combination of multiple colors, extensive connectivity and Snapdragon or AMD options could give Lenovo a compelling product in the budget laptop segment.
If the leaked design and specifications prove accurate, the IdeaPad Vibe could become one of Lenovo’s more interesting attempts to challenge Apple’s growing presence in the affordable laptop market.
