Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) in Karachi and exchanged views on the country’s political situation, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.
The delegation was led by MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. It included former Sindh governor Kamran Tessori, Mustafa Kamal, Farooq Sattar, Aminul Haq and Faisal Sabzwari.
The meeting focused on the prevailing political situation in the country, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Atta Tarar, Kheal Das and Rana Sanaullah were present with the prime minister. Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi also attended the meeting.
The prime minister commended the services of former Sindh governor Kamran Khan Tessori.
He briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and measures for peace in the region.
Matters relating to Karachi and the wider Sindh province, including development projects, also came under discussion, the statement added.
PM Shehbaz had also visited the residence of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faryal Talpur to congratulate her on her daughter’s wedding.
The prime minister had also called on Senator Sherry Rehman and her husband, where he offered condolences on the death of her daughter and offered Fateha.
“You share our grief; the loss of a child is profound,” the prime minister said.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, also arrived in Karachi.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and Senator Rana Sanaullah accompanied the prime minister during the visit.
