President Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan had threatened him at the point of a gun and is now searching for excuses while in jail.
Addressing a workers' convention in Sadiqabad, the president said that respect comes to those who bow less, and leadership belongs to those who stand with their people. He added that Yusuf Raza Gilani was made Prime Minister and Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood Governor because the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believes in promoting its workers, and even an ordinary worker can become a Member of the Provincial Assembly.
He remarked that jail is served like men, and crying achieves nothing.
Referring to the struggle of Benazir Bhutto, the president said she spent 24 years of her life in jail and remained imprisoned for five years in Sukkur jail. He described her as the fearless daughter of Shaheed Bhutto, destined for martyrdom.
The president said that the Sindh government will establish a university in the Kacha areas of Punjab, and he himself wishes that a medical university be founded there. He added that the permission for a university is granted by the President, and he will certainly provide it.
