Karachi witnessed the arrival of Bangladesh’s national carrier, Biman Airlines, as its inaugural flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka, landed at Jinnah International Airport on Thursday.
The flight carried 149 passengers on board, marking the official start of direct air connectivity between the two cities.
The second flight has already seen most of its tickets sold, highlighting strong demand for the new route. The service departing Karachi at 12:00pm is scheduled to reach Dhaka at 4:20am the following day.
This Karachi-Dhaka route will operate on a trial basis from January 29 to March 30, 2026. Authorities have stated that the continuation or expansion of the service will depend on its performance during this period.
In a ceremonial gesture, the arriving aircraft was welcomed with a traditional water salute at the airport, signaling the beginning of what is expected to be a significant addition to air travel options between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
