Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane said on Tuesday that the Australian companies are already working on the Reko Diq project, and more firms from Australia have shown interest in joining.

According to details, the remarks came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and the Australian high commissioner. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Australia in the mining and gemstones sectors.
Kane said Australian companies were actively engaged in the Reko Diq project and that additional Australian firms were keen to take part.
Ali Pervaiz Malik proposed an intergovernmental agreement to support cooperation in the mining sector. The federal minister said the interest shown by Australian companies in Pakistan’s mining sector was welcome and encouraging.
