Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a major relief package named ‘Ramzan Nigehban’ worth Rs47 billion which would be implemented before the start of the holy month.
CM headed an important meeting to finalize preparations for Ramzan and ensure public relief.
During the session, the chief minister approved the implementation of CM Ration Cards, ‘Nighban Dastarkhwan’ (community iftar tables), ‘Sahulat Bazaars’ (facilitation markets), and other administrative measures.
The package would benefit 4.2 million deserving families, providing Rs10,000 per family. In addition, Ration Cards, Nighban Cards, and community Iftar arrangements under the banner ‘Maryam ke Mehmaan’ will be established in every tehsil, along with Sahulat Bazaars to ensure essential items are accessible.
Each of Punjab’s 4.2 million families, totaling approximately 10 million individuals, will receive financial assistance of Rs10,000. The government aims to ensure that citizens do not have to visit multiple locations for support. Through the Ramadan Nighban Card, beneficiaries will be able to purchase groceries and other essentials in addition to receiving cash.
CM emphasized that no deserving family should feel neglected during Ramadan. She urged wealthy citizens to support the needy by providing meals and said that serving others in Ramadan strengthens both spiritual and worldly well-being.
She highlighted that service to humanity is a responsibility not only of hers but also of every commissioner, deputy commissioner, and officer, calling for complete dedication during the holy month.
To facilitate community meals, CM Maryam Nawaz approved the establishment of eight Nigehban Dastarkhwan in each tehsil under the ‘Maryam ke Mehmaan’ initiative, serving daily iftar to 2,000 fasting individuals. Commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, and the Food Authority will oversee operations. The meals will include dates, samosas, milk, bananas, and chicken biryani.
