The Sindh government has made it mandatory for every building in the province to be equipped with fire alarm panels, portable devices, smoke detectors, and a central alarm system.
A key meeting on comprehensive fire safety audits for government, private, and commercial buildings was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
During the meeting, it was decided that all buildings must have modern fire prevention systems, including fire alarm panels, portable devices, smoke detectors, and central alarm systems.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah emphasized the need for proper electrical wiring and the installation of automatic fire suppression systems.
Teams from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) will coordinate with building administrations to set deadlines for implementing fire safety measures. Non-compliance will lead to strict action.
Shah also stated that basements and mezzanine floors will only be allowed for parking purposes. He added that there will be no compromise on safety standards under any circumstances.
