President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the confirmation of 28 additional judges of the country’s high courts and extended the tenure of seven others, acting on the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
The president approved the confirmation and extension of additional judges serving in the Sindh High Court, Lahore High Court, and Peshawar High Court. The decisions were taken strictly in line with the recommendations forwarded by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.
Officials confirmed that both confirmations and extensions were formally approved through the presidency.
Sindh High Court: 11 confirmations
In the Sindh High Court, the president confirmed 11 additional judges. Alongside these confirmations, the tenure of two additional judges was extended by six months.

The extensions were granted to ensure continuity in judicial proceedings and administrative stability.
Lahore High Court: 11 judges confirmed
For the Lahore High Court, 11 additional judges were confirmed. In addition, the tenure of Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa was extended by six months.

Officials said the decision followed standard constitutional procedures after review by the Judicial Commission.
Peshawar: Six confirmed, four extended
In the Peshawar High Court, six additional judges received confirmation. The tenure of four other judges was extended by six months.
The extensions aim to maintain the functioning capacity of the court while permanent appointments are finalized.
Authorities emphasized that all confirmations and extensions were carried out as per the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan. The move reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the judicial system and address case backlogs in the high courts.
