The Lahore sessions court has taken up a case seeking registration of a criminal complaint against YouTuber Rajab Butt and his friends over allegations of spreading fear and panic through a controversial social media video.
An additional sessions judge issued notices to all parties involved and directed them to submit their responses by January 30. The court took notice of an application filed by a petitioner requesting formal registration of a case against the suspects.
According to the petitioner’s lawyer, the suspects were seen in a social media video allegedly planning to kidnap renowned Youtuber Ducky Bhai. The petition claims that Haider Ali, Maan Dogar, and Rajab Butt ambushed a vehicle during the incident.
Claims of assault and abduction
The petitioner alleged that the suspects forcibly picked up Ducky Bhai’s brother, Muneeb. It was claimed that Rajab Butt and Maan Dogar covered Muneeb’s face with a black cloth, detained him inside the vehicle, and physically assaulted him.
According to the petition, Haider Ali recorded the entire incident on video, which was later circulated on social media platforms.
The petitioner argued that the footage created fear and panic among the public.
Threat to peace and public morality
The petitioner’s counsel maintained that the alleged actions violate public morality and pose a serious threat to peace and law and order. On these grounds, the court was urged to order the registration of a criminal case against the suspects.
The additional sessions judge has summoned the parties to appear before the court on January 30. Further proceedings will take place after the court reviews the responses submitted by the suspects.
