The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has continued to restore the membership of parliamentarians and provincial assembly members who submitted their asset declarations.
According to details, an electoral watchdog has restored the membership of a further 23 members. Membership has been restored for eleven more members of the National Assembly, including Syra Afzal Tarar, after they submitted their declarations. The membership of two senators, including Federal Minister for Climate Change, Masood Khan, has also been restored.
Three members each from the Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies have had their memberships restored. Three members of the Punjab Assembly have also been reinstated after submitting their declarations. Membership has also been restored for Naeem Khan Bazai of the Balochistan Assembly.
The ECP had suspended the membership of 159 members of parliament for failing to submit their asset declarations. Membership has now been restored for 113 members. According to the ECP spokesperson, the membership of 46 members remains suspended.
