Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Tuesday called for the resignation of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah over the Gul Plaza fire tragedy in Karachi.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem said that no one appeared willing to take responsibility for Karachi. He said the Sindh chief minister should step down in view of the incident. Referring to Punjab, he urged the provincial government to withdraw the “black law” relating to local government elections. He said a JI referendum showed that 97 per cent of participants rejected the law.
Hafiz Naeem said that if the demand was not accepted, Jamaat-e-Islami would also surround the Punjab Assembly in protest.
