Pakistan and the United States have agreed to further strengthen border management and security cooperation during a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a US delegation led by Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker.
A high-level delegation led by Natalie Baker met Naqvi to discuss enhancing cooperation in Pak-US relations and areas of common interest.
Both sides agreed to expand collaboration in bilateral security cooperation and border management to address evolving challenges.
Agreement to deepen cooperation
During the meeting, it was decided to further strengthen ongoing cooperation with American institutions. Both sides emphasized improving coordination to promote Pak-US relations at all levels in the future.
The interior minister stressed the need to further increase cooperation with Pakistani institutions to ensure long-term effectiveness.
Software to track criminals abroad
Naqvi said individuals involved in crimes abroad will be identified through modern software. He noted that advanced digital tools are essential to counter financial fraud and terrorist financing. He added that modern software is the need of the hour, and US cooperation in this area is crucial.
The interior minister announced that Border Security, Coast Guards and other institutions will be equipped with modern American equipment. He said this will significantly enhance their operational capacity.
Naqvi added that improved technology will help strengthen border control and law enforcement effectiveness.
US support for FIA, NCCIA
He also welcomed American cooperation in enhancing the capacity of the Federal Investigation Agency and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). He said US assistance would be beneficial in activating the FIA’s anti-terrorism wing, which will be the first such wing at the federal level with effective coordination with the provinces.
The minister said the NCCIA is actively cracking down on illegal call centers across the country. He reiterated that cooperation with the US is vital to strengthen efforts against cybercrime, financial fraud and terror funding.
US delegation praises Pakistan’s efforts
The US delegation appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to enhance security cooperation and bilateral ties. Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker praised the ongoing collaboration between Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior and US institutions at various levels.
She assured that steps would continue to be taken to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with Pakistan.
