Police have arrested a suspect accused of sexually abusing more than 100 children in Karachi, uncovering a disturbing pattern of crimes linked through DNA evidence across multiple districts.
Karachi police confirmed the arrest of the accused following the formation of a special investigation team. According to police official Usman Sadozai, the team took targeted action to identify victims and trace evidence linked to the suspect.
The accused will be produced before a court and remanded for further investigation, police said.
Complaints filed between 2020-25
Police revealed that they had received seven formal complaints related to child sexual abuse between 2020 and 2025. These cases were registered in different districts of Karachi.
Investigators said they were shocked to find that DNA samples from cases separated by as much as six years matched the same individual.
According to Sadozai, forensic analysis confirmed the same DNA profile in multiple cases reported across Karachi. This discovery played a key role in identifying and arresting the accused. In all reported cases, boys aged 12 to 13 years were subjected to sexual assault.
Details of abuse
Police disclosed that in one of the cases, a child was assaulted by more than two individuals, highlighting the severity of the crimes. So far, only seven victims have come forward despite allegations that more than 100 children may have been abused.
Authorities have launched efforts to trace and identify remaining victims.
Karachi Additional Inspector General Azad Khan constituted the special investigation team on January 6 to probe the matter thoroughly. The team was tasked with consolidating evidence, coordinating forensic analysis, and ensuring the arrest of those involved.
Sindh CM orders strict action
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah congratulated the police on what he termed a major success in arresting the accused.
“I will not tolerate child abuse cases under any circumstances,” the chief minister said, calling child abuse completely unacceptable for the Sindh government.
Shah directed police to pursue the case strictly on the basis of evidence and ensure exemplary punishment for those responsible. He instructed the additional IG to provide daily progress reports on the investigation.
“There is no place for any beast in this city,” the chief minister said, emphasizing zero tolerance for crimes against children.
Search for remaining victims
The chief minister also stressed that while seven victims have come forward so far, police must actively search for the remaining victims linked to the accused.
Authorities said victim identification and protection remain a priority as the investigation continues.
