In a significant development, the Rawalpindi Accountability Court has turned down the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request for a physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the £190 million scandal case.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Latif Khosa, confirmed that Judge Muhammad Basheer of the Accountability Court rejected NAB’s plea for a 10-day physical remand in connection with the ongoing case.
This decision follows the issuance of an arrest warrant for Imran Khan by the Accountability Court yesterday in relation to the £190 million case.
The case took another turn on November 11 when the NAB, based on evidence, changed the status of Imran Khan’s wife, former First Lady Bushra Bibi, from a witness to an accused.
It is noteworthy that on November 14, 2023, the Islamabad High Court issued an order to halt the hearing of the cipher case against Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. The legal proceedings continue to unfold, shaping the course of one of Pakistan's most high-profile corruption cases.
