PTI leader Dr Yasmin Rashid has taken a legal step to contest the sentences handed down in three 9th May cases by filing appeals in the Lahore High Court.
Through her lawyer, Rana Mudassar Umar, Rashid has requested that the court declare the sentences null and void and suspend their execution until the final verdicts on the appeals.
The former minister stated that the trial court delivered the sentences without properly examining the facts and completed the trials in haste, resulting in what she described as “unlawful convictions.”
The appeals cover cases registered at the Gulberg, Naseerabad, and Race Course police stations. The PTI leader has urged the Lahore High Court to ensure that justice is served fairly, highlighting the importance of careful judicial review in such sensitive matters.
Supporters and legal experts note that these appeals reflect the proper use of legal channels to ensure due process, and the suspension of sentences during the appeal process provides an opportunity for a thorough reconsideration of the evidence.
