The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has distanced itself from a controversial speech delivered by a woman at a protest in the UK, even as Islamabad formally takes up concerns with British authorities over slogans against national institutions.
The issue has triggered diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, raising questions about freedom of expression, incitement, and compliance with international law.
The PTI has categorically stated that it has nothing to do with the speech delivered by a woman who participated in a protest in the UK. According to a spokesperson, the woman is not an official of the party, and her speech, views, language, and style do not reflect PTI’s position or political thinking.
Opposition to violence, hate speech
The spokesperson emphasized that PTI is fundamentally opposed to violence, provocation, hate speech, and vulgar language. The PTI, the statement added, believes in a democratic, constitutional, and peaceful political struggle and does not support any individual or group acting contrary to these principles.

The PTI’s activities in the UK have come under scrutiny following the release of a highly provocative video from PTI UK’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.
The video shows protesters chanting slogans against Pakistan’s national institutions on British soil, triggering strong reactions from political and legal circles.
Violating international law
According to legal experts, such inflammatory discourse may constitute a blatant violation of international law, particularly provisions related to provocation and incitement.
They argue that UN Security Council resolutions place responsibility on member states to prevent the use of their soil for actions that incite violence or destabilize other countries.

Sources allege that PTI-linked fugitive YouTubers, miscreants, and social media trolls are using British soil for anti-state activities, further amplifying the controversial video online.
The alleged nexus between PTI and foreign masters in Britain has been described as a serious test of the UK’s commitment to international law and responsible state conduct.
Pakistan raises matter with Britain
Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the incident and formally taken up the issue with British authorities. The Foreign Office has verbally demarched the acting British high commissioner, urging strict action against those involved in chanting slogans against state institutions.
A spokesperson for the British High Commission in Islamabad said that the high commission is acting on Pakistan’s démarche.
The spokesperson clarified that police and prosecutors in the UK work independently, and if a country believes a crime has been committed, relevant material should be provided to the Police Liaison Officer in Britain.
Possible legal action
According to the British High Commission, British police will review any material that may violate the law. Following the review, criminal investigations may be initiated if the content is found to breach UK laws, including provisions under the UK Counter-Terrorism Act, which treats encouragement of provocation as a serious offense.
Pakistani officials have stressed that this issue goes beyond political disagreement and falls under the category of incitement to violence and terrorism.
They have urged Britain not to allow its soil to be used to destabilize Pakistan, describing the episode as a test of Britain’s resolve to uphold international law.
