Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar on Monday ordered a provincewide security high alert, directing police units to immediately begin sweep and combing operations across Punjab,
The directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar. He instructed that all districts must conduct urgent sweep and combing operations to pre-empt any threat.
SDPOs and SHOs have been ordered to personally accompany Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) teams and other law-enforcement agencies during these operations.
Security measures for educational institutions
Dr Anwar directed that CCTV cameras be installed at the entry and exit points of educational institutions across the province. He also ordered the deployment of security guards and the establishment of emergency evacuation plans for all campuses.
CTD teams, along with SDPOs and other security units, will conduct mock exercises inside schools, colleges, and universities to assess preparedness.
Strict monitoring and profiling ordered
The IGP instructed that immediate profiling and data verification be carried out for individuals arriving from outside Punjab.
He also emphasized the regular monitoring of all banned organizations—including the TLP—and called for aggressive door-knocking campaigns to prevent access to terrorists and other malicious elements.
Dr Usman Anwar noted that traffic licensing across Punjab has increased by more than 930% in recent days, reflecting improved public engagement with police services.
He further announced that 3,500 more promotions within Punjab Police will be processed in the coming days.
