Goa and fire safety concerns
Goa, a former Portuguese colony on the Arabian Sea, is known for its beaches and vibrant nightlife, attracting millions of tourists each year.
Fires in India are often exacerbated by overcrowding, poor building standards, and lax enforcement of safety regulations. Recent incidents include:
-
May 2025: 17 deaths in a Hyderabad building fire
-
April 2025: 15 deaths in a Kolkata hotel blaze
-
2024: 24 deaths at a crowded amusement park arcade in Gujarat
Authorities have repeatedly stressed the need for strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent such tragedies.
