Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to enforce strict regulations on loudspeakers and ensure adherence to the “one dish” rule at weddings and events across the province.
CM Maryam emphasised legal action against the unauthorized use of loudspeakers during Qawwali nights, marriage halls, and farmhouses. Authorities have been directed to monitor and prevent excessive noise at events, including restricting working hours for marriage halls.
Officials who fail to comply will not be allowed to attend wedding ceremonies, ensuring accountability and enforcement.
One-dish rule enforcement
A decision in principle has been taken to implement the one-dish rule not only in marriage halls but also in farmhouses and grounds where private events are held.
This step aims to reduce extravagance at social gatherings and ensure adherence to government regulations.
District officers are instructed to oversee strict implementation of these directives. Events violating the one-dish rule or illegal loudspeaker usage will face legal action, reinforcing the government’s commitment to curbing unnecessary noise and promoting compliance.
