Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered an immediate and priority-based crackdown on illegal encroachment across the province, directing full implementation of Ordinance 2025 and daily monitoring at the district level.
During a meeting chaired in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that actions against illegal occupation must move without delay. She specifically ordered the prompt resolution of a destitute widow’s encroachment case and reiterated that all related complaints should be handled on an urgent basis.
The chief minister made it clear that district administrations must not allow any slowdown in responding to public grievances on illegal encroachment.
Full implementation of Ordinance 2025
Maryam Nawaz instructed authorities to ensure strict, province-wide enforcement of Ordinance 2025.
She stated that Punjab cannot afford negligence in matters of land occupation and that daily reporting mechanisms will help keep the process transparent and efficient.
Deputy commissioners across all districts have been directed to hold daily meetings on encroachment cases. The CM said she will personally monitor the progress to ensure timely decision-making.
Daily monitoring, public awareness campaign
The meeting decided that daily monitoring will be carried out regarding illegal encroachment on properties, and a detailed report will be submitted to the chief minister every day.
To enhance public awareness, announcements will be made in mosques across Punjab informing citizens about the government’s immediate actions against illegal occupation.
Maryam Nawaz also directed that applications related to encroachment be received in the assistant commissioner’s office in every tehsil, ensuring easy access for complainants.
Dissatisfaction over slow progress
The CM expressed her displeasure over delays in resolving land occupation cases in Gujrat, Layyah, Hafizabad and several other districts.
She stressed that such negligence undermines public trust and obstructs the government’s mission to provide timely relief. Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed that she wants to ensure immediate relief for citizens by resolving illegal occupation cases as quickly as possible.
Officials briefed the meeting that 2,919 applications against illegal encroachment have been received across Punjab in just three weeks. Out of these, District Dispute Resolution Committees have resolved 499 cases, while the remaining continue to be processed.
CM Maryam said that the large number of applications reflects public confidence in government efforts and the need for strict monitoring to deliver rapid justice.
