Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has emphasised that transparency, accessibility and efficiency remain the highest priorities in the justice system.
According to a Supreme Court press release, CJP Afridi said that the digital era launched with the Supreme Court Rules 2025, praising the judges and institutions for their role in implementing judicial reforms. CJP Afridi said that historic reforms have been introduced in judicial laws for the first time in 45 years.
He said that a memorandum of understanding has been signed with China’s highest court, while a similar agreement with Turkiye’s Constitutional Court is in its final stages. To safeguard judicial independence, the SC has introduced new institutional procedures and resolved more than 27,000 cases this year.
The CJP added that old cases involving the death penalty and life imprisonment have been concluded, and only cases filed under the 2025 rules are now under consideration.
He maintained that for public convenience, an online feedback system has been established, alongside the launch of an anti-corruption hotline and call centre.
